Born in Tokyo, Japan on February 4, 1950 to British parents, Pamela Franklin spent her childhood living in Hong Kong, Australia, and Ceylon. (One published newspaper report claims she was born in 1949 in Yokohama.) Her father was in the export business and in the 1960s ran a village store in Sussex (U.K.).
