Marie Gillain Picture Marie Gillain was born in Rocourt (Belgium) on 18th June 1975. She has always been fascinated by the world of entertainment. About the age of 7 or 8, she would dress up and organise small shows in the attic (named "L'atelier Pomme" for the occasion) with her little sister Céline and the children of her village. At 10, she wrote a letter to a fairy to ask her to fulfil her dream of becoming an actress. As a teenager she took part in a theatre workshop for adolescents, "Le Vivier". At 14, she came across an advertisement in a Belgian weekly paper for the film L'Amant directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. She decided to send in a cassette on which she read an extract from the novel by Marguerite Duras, and as a result of this was asked to attend some tests. She was not accepted, but one year later the same casting director contacted her again for Mon père ce héros. We know the rest... The role of Véro, the daughter of Depardieu, led her to her first César nomination. ENTER HERE |
