Virginia Madsen Naakt The younger sister of actor Michael Madsen, blonde American actress Virginia Madsen grew up in and around the Chicago area, receiving her acting training at Northwestern University. As the daughter of an Emmy-winning documentary maker, it was logical for Madsen to make her first appearances on public television. She worked in the many independent theatres of Chicago before making her cinematic bow in Electric Dreams (1983). Possessed of a cool, classic beauty, Madsen has frequently found critical commentary about her work centered not around her considerable skills but on her willingness to appear in the nude. Even in the made-for-TV Long Gone (1987), Madsen first appears lying on her stomach in bed, with nary a stitch. In 1992, Madsen came full circle by returning to her Chicago home base for Candyman, a superior horror film which to many observers represents the actress' finest screen work. On television, Madsen has confronted and conquered the daunting assignment of portraying actress Marion Davies in the TV movie The Hearst and Davies Affair (1985) where she maintained an even performing keel with veteran Robert Mitchum as William Randolph Hearst.
