Fotos De Theresea Russel Desnuda A model at age 12, Theresa Russell left school a few years later to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Her film debut was as Robert Mitchum's love-hungry daughter in The Last Tycoon (1976). Her most memorable screen roles have included the self-destructive alcoholic Sophie in the 1984 remake of Razor's Edge (the role played by Anne Baxter in the 1946 version), and the ethereal Marilyn Monroe counterpart in the Sartre-like Insignificance (1985). Russell married the director of the latter film, Nicolas Roeg, 30 years her senior. Like Roeg, Russell has evinced a preference for rarefied art house efforts rather than "audience pictures," though she certainly has not wanted for publicity: Her most controversial role was the burned-out title character in Whore (1991), an otherwise worthless film directed by Ken Russell (no relation).
